Steve Gibbard

Steve Gibbard is an independent consultant, and a Network Architect at ServePath/GoGrid, a hosting and "cloud computing" company in San Francisco.

Previously, Steve was the Network Architect at Packet Clearing House, a non-profit research institute based in Berkeley, California. At PCH, Steve ran a global research network and an anycast DNS network that hosted the top level domains for several countries and several anycast copies of a root DNS server. Steve studied the interconnection of Internet networks, focusing on reliability of local communications in regions without robust external connectivity, and was a frequent presenter at industry conferences. Steve is also a former Senior Network Engineer at Cable & Wireless, and has held network engineering positions at Digital Island and World Wide Net.

Steve was one of the authors of the Nanog Reform proposal in late 2004, one of the editors of the NANOG Bylaws, and a member of the NANOG Mailing List Administration Committee from Februrary to November, 2005.
