Restaurants
San Pedro Square is home to a variety of restaurants, most suitable for lunch or dinner. Due to activity at the San Jose Arena (SAP Open Tennis) reservations may be a good idea for the nicer places, but probably woin't be needed for most places. (If hte Sharks were at home, it would be much worse!)

Here are a few of my lowbrow favorites:
The Tied House
A popular brew pub and sports bar with a menu featuring wild game burgers, fresh fish, pastas, ribs and steak.
A. P. Stump's chop House
Not for vegetarians. Steak, chops, and seafood. Large wine list. $$$$
Sonoma Chicken Coop
Lots more than just chicken, although the chicken is good. Very fast service and very reasonable prices. Great for lunch. Those who are addicted to chocolate might want to try the chocolate hockey puck. If it's dessert, maybe split it. Daily specials. Order and pick up at counter.
Spiedo Ristorante
Excellent Italian Cuisine with first rate service.
The Tandoori Oven
Excellent lunch place, good for vegetarians, recommend the paneer wrap. http://www.thetandoorioven.com/

Group Activities
NANOG, The Golf Club
The Golf
The NANOG 42 golf event is being held at Cinnabar, located in the Metro San Jose area. We'll be playing Sunday morning, meet in the conference hotel lobby at 7:15a, and having lunch at the Clubhouse afterwards. Cost is $105.00 including greens fees and cart. There is also the possibility that we'll be running a short clinic at some point. We suggest that you dress appropriately i.e. observe golf etiquette and be prepared for moist and/or cool weather. This is Northern California in winter, afterall.
The Pebble Beach Experience
There are two people, so far, interested in playing the vaunted Pebble Beach, home of many first class PGA tournaments. Greens fees at Pebble Beach are unsurprisingly a little high and the required caddy is extra. We're also going to get some Spa time with the play. Contact Tiger to coordinate. We suspect that if there is a Pebble trip, it will be on Wednesday.
The Preparation
Yes, bring your own clubs if you so choose. Most airlines will not charge you extra to bring them, unless of course you are carrying a body in your luggage proper. Do bring balls, but don't bring 20 clubs. Bring regulation count to lighten your bag. Cart bags ok, but are heavier in transit so shoulder bags are recommended. Bring balls and tees for sure. No funny electronics please, we observe USGA Rules of Golf and generally accepted golf etiquette.
The Social Activity
We'll be organizing as well as sponsoring a social event for Sunday evening. Stay tuned for further details which is highly likely to include Gordon Biersch Brewery and free beer.
The PGA
We are close to becoming a PGA sanctioned club. Please let us know if you are interested in being a formal member of the group!
The Contact Information
Please contact Jack Bitlaus for more information.
