Appropriate Topics
NANOG discussions are of interest to people running wide-area networks interconnected with other networks. "Network operations" in this context means issues related to entire networks, rather than to end users. For example, a problem with an end users cable modem is not as interesting as a problem with all of an ISP's cable modems. Some references useful to end-user of leaf node sites are tracked elsewhere in the wiki.
Appropriate topics include routing, broad-based engineering problems/issues/solutions, outages, performance measurement, evolving wide-area technologies, exchange points, traffic engineering, operational experience, ISP security, and trouble ticket systems.
Questions that are off-topic for NANOG may be better suited to other, more specific forums.
